Our Investors’ Guide to the Implementation and Operation of Turnover Rents

UK Shopping Centres: Should I Buy, Hold or Sell?

The UK shopping centre sector now offers substantial opportunities to investors both current and new – particularly if they can embrace a new way of structuring the leases on which these complex assets are let.

Investors Guide

A significant surplus of retail property in the UK has resulted in centres of all sizes now trading at historically low values, which offers an opportunity to access the sector at an exceptional price point.

Of course, the reason that values are so low is that they reflect harsh realities of what has been happening in the sector – even prior to the pandemic.

Declining rental values, rapidly increasing vacancy rates, increasing rates liabilities and the onerous cost of managing the assets are major deterrents.

We acknowledge these realities, but there is a way of asset managing centres which can realign them with the strategic objectives of retailers.

We have produced an Investors Guide to the Implementation and Operation of Turnover Rents to share our knowledge and expertise
